
Already in the early morning these grebes were mating on one of the many canals of the Dutch poldervillage of Rijpwetering. The grebes are dancing in a special way, keeping their neck stiff and moving their head from side to side.
Making of: I was hiding behind a boat to not disturb them. The grebe is common in Holland, but only in early spring this behaviour is observed. The photo was made with a Nikon D300s from hand, with a 300mm lens.
