The Lizard

This rainbow lizard (Cnemidophorus sp.)  explores the rocks on the Iguacu trail for little insects and warms itself up in the afternoon sun. While its upper body is inconspicuous and camouflaged its lower body has bright colors. Its little claws tipped feet remind of bird feet.

Making of: On a sunny day in iguacu waterfalls, I was watching the platform from which you can see ‘the falls’ and saw this strikingly big lizard. Because of the big sensation of the falls closeby, almost nobody seems to pay attention to the lizard. It was just a few meters away and by getting down on the warm asphalt of the trail I could photograph it from a low angle to capture the bright turquoise of the chin. The bright sun allowed me to choose a very small exposure time and thereby increase the sharpness. I lightened up the shadows slightly in the postprocessing to make the eye more visible.
