Woodnymph

This violet capped woodnymph (Thalurania glaucopsis) is resting on a shady branch of the red hibiscus shrub, waiting for another launch to suck nectar from its red flowers.

Making of: The Estalagem Minais Gerais is located at the boundary of a large valley with Atlantic rainforest. At a hedge at the boundary of the hotel and the forest the red hibiscus trees attracted colibris. It was possible to watch this bird for more than half an hour going to the flowers and back to its resting place. I made this photo with a flash as it was very dark. Photoshop shade-highlight to lighten up the branch a little bit.
