The plush crested jay (Cyanocorax chrysops) sits at the boundary of the Iguacu falls this on a lower branch of an airplant covered tree. From this hunting post it would occasionally jump down to catch a cricket or grashopper. The colorful plumage might not suggest it, but the plush-crested heather is a close relative of the raven, which, in view of its colorful plumage may seem surprising.
Making of:
The Iguacu Falls national park is not only worth visiting for its impressive falls but also for the rich nature at the river Iguacu. The bird was sitting in a tree on the wayside of the cataratas trail along the Iguacu falls. From time to time it jumped down to catch a grashopper. I was hoping to not only catch the bird but also part of its natural environment; the evergreen canopy leaves, wet trunks and airplants.
